This year Flat Rock Brook celebrates it 35th Anniversary thanks to our members and donors, whose steadfast support has allowed us to successfully persue a Green Agenda for the past 35 years: to preserve the natural woodland for the benefit of wildlife and as a resource for the community, and to provide environmental education programs to more than 65,000 school children, and the many thousands of families and individuals who have visited Flat Rock Brook over the past 35 years.

The 35th Anniversary Campaign
Flat Rock Brook receives its support through membership dues, income from our endowment fund, program fees and donations. The 35th Anniversary Campaign is designed to raise funds for our Annual Fund and increase the principal of our Endowment Fund as well, enabling us to ensure Flat Rock Brook's vitality today and into the future as an oasis of natural beauty and a resource for environmental education for area communities.
Annual Fund
The Annual Fund is vital to the day-to-day operations of Flat Rock Brook. Covering 30% of our expenses each year, it allows us maintain our 150-acres of property, offer education programs for more than 5,000 school children each year, provide outreach programs to area schools and a variety of programs for our members and the general public, and to offer competitive salaries to our professional staff.
The Endowment Fund Challenge
The Endowment Fund is invested to provide additional income and growth to protect Flat
Rock Brook's future.
This year, we have a unique opportunity to add substantially to Flat Rock Brook's Endowment Fund. Two generous benefactors, who wish to remain anonymous,
have provided a challenge fund of $200,000 for Flat Rock Brook's Endowment Fund. This fund will match dollar-for-dollar all gifts received or pledged for the Endowment Fund up to $200,000 by December 31, 2008. Your gift to the Endowment Fund this year will benefit Flat Rock Brook for many years to come.
Donors of $250 or more to the 35th Anniversary Campaign are enrolled in the Sylvan Society, which honors those who make leadership gifts to Flat Rock Brook. Sylvan Society donors are recognized in our Annual Report, they are invited to a cocktail party held in their honor in a member's home, and their names are displayed on a plaque to be hung in the Nature Center Building.
Flat Rock Brook was founded 35 years ago by a group of people who cared deeply about nature and the planet we inhabit. We have survived and flourished because, over the years, thousands of people have continued to lend their support as members, as donors and as volunteers.
