Special Events

Flat Rock Brook holds three major special events each year. Members' Day in the fall, the Holiday Sale in December, and Nature Day in May. In addition to these three traditional events, Flat Rock Brook also schedules a variety of other events that, in the past, have included photography contests, poetry exhibitions, and even giant-sized garage sales with members emptying their attics of treasures to benefit Flat Rock Brook.

Members' Day
Flat Rock Brooks day of appreciation for its members. Each fall, members are invited to gather at Flat Rock Brook to enjoy nature games and crafts for children, music, scavenger hunts, and nature walks in woods, brilliant with fall color. Fun for the whole family!

Holiday Sale
The Holiday Sale has been a Flat Rock Brook tradition since 1975 when it was held in a small shop on Bergen Street in Englewood. Today, it is held at Flat Rock Brook for three days in early December, and has become a major fundraiser for Flat Rock Brook. With the help of our staff and dozens of volunteers who plan and staff the sale, Flat Rock Brook sells gifts for Christmas, Chanukah, and Kwaanza, as well as trees, wreaths, and baked goods to raise funds to support our programs. The sale also features a Silent Auction with unique treasures to bid on.

Nature Day
Flat Rock Brook's celebration of Nature in May draws families from far and wide. Games for children, canoe rides on the pond, face painting, special nature programs, music, live animals and nature exhibitions all add up to a day of fun for all who attend.
