Enjoy our Nature Center

Our center is the hub for our educational exhibits, educational programs and staff offices. Our interpretive exhibit “A Walk in the Woods” is an interactive exploration of Flat Rock’s habitats. The facility is also available for rental for meetings, birthday parties, weddings and other special occasions. The center is surrounded by our 150-acre preserve, Native Habitat Gardens, pond and more. Come explore and learn with us!

Flat Rock Brook was founded in 1973 by a group of volunteers and concerned citizens with the foresight to preserve forested land in a densely populated area. Today, Flat Rock encompasses 150-acres with 3.6 miles of hiking trails and environmental programs that reach thousands of children and adults annually. We strive to create stewards of our planet through an understanding and appreciation of the natural world.

Flat Rock Brook Nature Center relies on the dedication of hundreds of volunteers to accomplish its goals.

We thrive with the help and support of our dedicated volunteers. Whether it’s our trails guides reaching thousands of school children, corporate partners rolling up their sleeves for field projects, or our mail crew reaching out to our community of members and supporters with information on the happenings at our preserve, we depend on our volunteers to ensure our success.
