Grant Awarded for Watershed Program
SUEZ North America Foundation awarded a $9,500 two-year grant to Flat Rock Brook to support our watershed program. The program reaches 7th graders at the Upper School in Englewood Cliffs school district.
The purpose of this initiative is to engage students in a variety of hands-on learning experiences centered on the concept of watersheds and non-point source pollution.
The project aims to impact student and community activities to build a sense of stewardship regarding the water quality of the Flat Rock Brook watershed which feeds into the Hackensack River. This is an intensive project reinforcing watershed concepts, with our staff meeting with students multiple times during the school year. This is a unique program offering in Bergen County.
This grant provides 15 years of seamless continuity between our Watershed curriculum and the Upper school. The SUEZ Foundation has been a generous supporter for half of the life of the program.
